HONG KONG: Frontline Portraits.
A collection of portraits showing pro-democracy protesters on the frontline during violent clashes with Hong Kong's riot police on 20th of October 2019.
The demonstrations, which are against a number of things such as Hong Kong's government and police brutality, have been plaguing the city since early June. Protesters have adopted black clothing, masks, helmets and umbrellas as they protect themselves from tear gas, rubber bullets whilst also trying to sidestep any way of being identified. Being caught carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
All pictures were taken using natural light, with an assistant holding a black backdrop behind the protester after asking if he or she would be happy having their picture taken.
All chose not to give their names and ages.
