August 2017. Raqqa, Syria.
An MFS soldier sits on guard duty at his nocter (an abandoned house which is now being used as a base) on the front lines of western Raqqa. Attacks on the nocter or common as ISIS try and break out of the perimeter held by SDF forces.
The MFS (Syriac Military Council) are a group of Assyrian Christians who fight alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces in the fight to topple ISIS.
